Professional sports also realised and soon, officially licensed T-Shirts became must have items for all supporters and fans. Tee shirts became commonly accepted as day to day clothing everyday clothing in the early 1970's it was music, and namely punk rock that really fixed their position as standard youth clothing. Putting on a t shirt is the simplest, cheapest and easiest way to make a statement. Just like Marlon Brando, in black leather and a plain white cool T-shirt, T-shirt wearing James Dean and many others had all played their part in making it essential wear for a cool, rebellious youth, punk sealed the t-shirts status as acceptable clothing for the new generation of rebels. The beauty of T-shirt design is the love at first sight nature of the idea/buyer relationship, from the coolest, funkiest graphic to the most profound philosophy.
